I have many years’ experience in leading international businesses at strategic and operational levels and in capital project management in many sectors. This experience encompasses many countries and has been gained from both a corporate and consultant perspective.
I have built a successful career in business, both in the public and private sectors. I have been CEO of major corporations in Africa, Russia, UK and the Middle East, including senior executive positions in Anglo American Corporation, De Beers, British Energy, British Rail, Murray and Roberts, the Press Corporation. I have advised several governments on economic growth and expansion (Oman, Malawi, South Africa and Romania), and was closely involved in the privatisation of British Rail Engineering and British Energy. In the 90’s, I was closely involved in the economic and industrial rebuilding of several countries in Eastern Europe (under the European Development Corporation) including developing and stabilising heavy industry and manufacturing organisations.
Currently, I am Interim Director of Onyx Capital Partners Ltd and a non-executive director of several companies in Mining, Energy and Financial Services. This interim assignment is due to end in 2 weeks, so I can be available at short notice, if required.
I have a post graduate degree in Engineering, am a chartered engineer, and hold fellowships of several major professional institutions in the UK. In 2014, I was the recipient of the Medal for Excellence, awarded for outstanding contribution to the global metallurgical/mining industry, by the institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the United Kingdom.
