The Mere Hotel
With the arrival into the private sector in April 2020 of major changes to the IR5 legislation we make no apology for presenting this topic this evening. Join us and our Affiliate and co-host Laudale…….
for an interactive evening to hear from, and question, key speakers from the provider, legal and tax professions on this key topic, as well as looking at alternative interim business models. We will be joined by representatives of fellow Affiliate Brookson One, Manchester legal specialists JMW Solicitors LLP. and ArmstrongWatson Financial Advisors There will be ample opportunity before and after the main event to network with like-minded interim professionals and members of the Laudale and IIM teams.
Topic: IR35 Changes 2020: How ready Are You (and the Industry)?
Event Timing: Doors open from 1800; with a prompt 1845 start, running to 2100 close.
Speakers: The talk will be led by experts from JMW Solicitors, Brookson One, and ArmstrongWatson Financial Advisors.
Aspects covered will be:
- What is Employment status?
- IR35 – public sector experience and plans and consequences for private sector implmentation
- What are the practical impacts if deemed inside IR35
- New ways of working and alternative interim business models
- Key aspects to consider now and in future for how we work, including:
- Establishing the end client relationship – what needs to change
- Impact on the provider relationship
- Writing the contract
- Defining how we operate end to end: saying what we will do and doing what we say (n the contract)
- Implications for the journey to prepare effectively for 2020
Format: Active presentation and discussion from our JMW, Brookson one and ArmstrongWatson experts.
Formal presentations will be followed by a Q&A session to the panel of speakers
NB: the evening is one of relevant industry-wide information sharing: it is not possible to deal with any specific individual issues on the day. We are sure that should this level of discussion be required by any attendees, that all of the presenters would be happy to discuss with you separately on a commercial basis.
There will be plenty of opportunity for networking before and after the formal presentations over a drink and light buffet and follow-up with all presenters and IIM Board members present.
The Chancellor’s Spring Statement confirmed that the government, led by HMRC, will be implementing the “successful” changes made in the public sector in 2017, to the private sector (and third sector) in 2020.
This IIM event is a tremendous opportunity to benefit from the input of subject matter experts who can offer guidance on how both the individual interim needs to be thinking about operating from 2020 onwards and how the industry needs to work together to present the most effective approach to ensure a smooth transition. We see this issue as one of the most important to impact on our members’ way of working for some time and strongly recommend attendance if at all possible.
