The Institute of Interim Management (IIM), the pioneering UK professional body representing Interim practitioners, is pleased to announce a new collaboration formed with the Australasian Interim Executive Association, (AIEA).
This latest development in the Institute’s twenty-year history represents the start of a new chapter in the IIM’s objective of supporting the growth of Interim Management and championing the profession, worldwide.
Tony Evans, IIM Co-chairman said: “The IIM is delighted to be able to partner with the AIEA to extend the hand of friendship across the globe. International Interim work carries its own set of challenges and should any antipodeans find themselves posted to British shores; we will be happy to make contact. A little local knowledge can go a long way, an early point of contact can help settling in and let’s face it, travelling back home for the weekend isn’t going to happen.
He continued; “I am confident that our collective experience and knowledge, and the opportunities that will arise from this new collaboration, will benefit not only our respective members but also their clients and the wider business community. In the UK, there are 4.5-5 million workers in the so-called gig economy, of which about 1.5 million operate through their own personal service company. Interim practitioners represent a small section, very much at the ‘high intellectual content’ end of this spectrum. Our members know the value they bring to clients is well beyond the formal objectives and spend much time coaching client employees so that the legacy of their assignment is not lost. Google and U-Tube don’t provide an online substitute.”
In Brisbane, Mal Walker, the Founder and Chairman of AIEA, said “Experience is not something you can Google. A 2015 study showed there were 4.1 million freelancers in Australia while there has been a 31% annual surge in UK freelancers reported in 2018. There are no borders in the business world of today. Interim Executives and Managers have adapted to this new world, offering their expertise in all corners of the globe, bringing essential skills on an as-required basis.”
