Dear members, we have some important news for you. The Institute of Interim Management (IIM) has a new website. You know this as here you are here. We are also rolling out additional insurance for members this month and are giving you a pre-launch heads up.
What’s new with the website?
Whilst it looks nicer than the old one, the purpose of the site is simply to better represent interim managers to the market and to give a better platform to our accredited members.
- We have improved member profiles (please fill yours in).
- We have an improved assignment posting engine.
- We have an improved events booking tool.
To supplement the efforts we have expended to build the profile of our interim survey, we are building the IIM site as a key destination for interims, providers and clients. For example, we are opening out our assignment posting engine for providers for free which offers them an automated no delay mechanism of posting their assignment straight onto the IIM’s LinkedIn assignments group. The posting page is right alongside our improved ‘Find an Interim’ search engine.
The new site is still public beta, why is that?
We’ve been building our new site for many months. There are a few loose ends we need to tie down but this is the perfect time to launch, given the publication of our annual interim survey later this month and a great deal of traffic coming to our site. Our old site had served its time, some of it no longer worked. Even with a few rough edges our new site is a step forward from our old site. Time to change.
And if you do spot anything that doesn’t work, please flag it on the numerous reporting links on the site or at our reporting page.
How to login?
We have transferred IIM member accounts from our old site to our new one. Login with your username and password we e-mailed to you in the last few days.
We have kept a full data download of your member records from the old site, though many people had not filled much in and others clearly have outdated information, so if you do want our admin team to copy your old data across for you please let us know (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we’ll schedule that, but your profile has been reset as a default so that we know no inaccurate data is being entered without your consent.
If you have any transitionary questions please contact email@example.com or call 0800 030 4716
You may see in your account settings that all members have been set to ‘auto renew’ but as we have no payment details for you in the system, all that means is that when your expiry date comes, you will be contacted about renewal.
We will no longer take payment by NoChex. Our new site will be enabled for PayPal so payments will be taken under your control with reminders from PayPal and from the account you specify. We will retain the ability to receive manual payments (arranged via member services) but for reasons connected with our new insurance offering (below) we are seeking to avoid membership gaps at renewal, which PayPal will reliably avoid.
Tax Investigation Insurance teaser
With a more reliable payment engine in place (PayPal) we are rolling out later in July to all paid-up accredited members, Tax Investigation Insurance cover included in the current membership fee. Interim managers are quantified in the minds of some misunderstanding sections of government as one group of tax avoiders. Over the last few years we have had the Student Loans Company controversy, use of off-payroll in the Public sector, Controlling Person and Office-Holder proposals and regulations. We are waiting for the first office-holders test case to fall as HMRC are hinting that the might consider any company Director might be an officer so we are taking proactive steps to protect our membership from an office holder analysis we think they have simply got wrong.
This is a significant investment by the Institute in cover that you could buy individually in the market for £150. It is affordable to the Institute as a bulk purchase only because of the strong track record of independent working that accreditation offers.
More about that soon.
